Iduseri Restores Calm at Etebite Street, Brokers Peace Between Traders and Taskforce

The Chairman of Oredo Local Government Council, Hon. Engr. Gabriel Iduseri, has successfully brokered peace between traders and the Oredo Local Government Taskforce following a recent clash at Etebite Street, off Forestry Road, Benin City.

The incident occurred on January 14 when taskforce operatives, accompanied by a cameraman, came under attack while carrying out a routine enforcement exercise to clear traders displaying goods on the roadway.

The confrontation temporarily disrupted commercial activities in the area and raised concerns over public safety.

In a swift move to prevent further escalation, Hon. Iduseri intervened by convening a peace meeting involving representatives of the affected traders, taskforce officials, and other relevant stakeholders.

The dialogue culminated in a mutually agreed peace accord, with all parties reaffirming their commitment to lawful trading practices, respect for constituted authority, and the rejection of violence.

Speaking at the meeting, the Council Chairman reiterated his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, peaceful conflict resolution, and the creation of a conducive business environment across Oredo Local Government Area.

He assured traders of continuous engagement and fair enforcement of regulations, while charging the taskforce to carry out its duties with The Chairman of Oredo Local Government Council, Hon. Engr.
