The Executive Chairman of Oredo Local Government Council, Hon. Gabriel Iduseri, has accepted an invitation to the inauguration of the newly elected leadership of the Edo State chapter of the Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas (HOSTCOM), scheduled for April 25, 2026.
This followed a strategic courtesy visit by a HOSTCOM delegation to the Oredo Council Headquarters in Benin City, led by State Chairman, Engr. (Dr.) Stanley Osayande, and State Secretary, Comrade Patrick Eromosele.
The visit was aimed at formally introducing the new executive council and fostering institutional collaboration to drive grassroots development across host communities.
During the engagement, Iduseri emphasized the need for transparency in the management of the 3 percent Host Community Development Fund under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).
He urged the new leadership to serve as a credible bridge between oil-producing communities and government, ensuring that development projects directly benefit local residents.
The council chairman also highlighted key challenges confronting oil-producing communities, including environmental degradation from oil spillages and inadequate infrastructure such as poor road networks, lack of potable water, and limited access to quality healthcare services. He further stressed the importance of Edo State maximizing its oil derivation benefits.
Reaffirming his commitment to collaboration, Iduseri expressed optimism that sustained accountability and partnership would yield tangible development outcomes for the people of Oredo.
The upcoming inauguration is expected to usher in a new phase of cooperation between Oredo Local Government and HOSTCOM, in line with Edo State’s SHINE development agenda.
