The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has introduced a one-time procedure allowing candidates who have genuinely lost access to their registered phone numbers or email addresses to update their details, subject to strict identity verification.
The policy, which took effect is designed to help candidates regain access to essential JAMB services when they can no longer use the contact details linked to their records.
Under the new arrangement, eligible candidates can request changes to their registered GSM numbers, email addresses or both through designated JAMB Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres, including state offices where applicable.
The examination body said all requests would undergo strict identity and biometric verification to prevent impersonation, fraud and unauthorised alterations to candidates’ records. It also stated that the service would be available only once, making it important for applicants to ensure that the details they provide are accurate.
The measure is expected to ease difficulties for candidates who have lost access to their registered contact information and need to update their records for registration and other examination-related services.
JAMB has advised candidates to use only authorised centres and avoid relying on unauthorised agents or unofficial channels to process changes to their details.
The board’s latest measure seeks to improve access to its services while maintaining safeguards around candidates’ personal information. Candidates who require assistance have been advised to consult JAMB’s official communication channels for details of the applicable procedures and requirements.
