Di appointment come after di death of di former Emir of Gumel, Alhaji Dr Ahmed Muhammad Sani II, wey die on Thursday, September 3, 2026, after e spend about 46 years for di throne.
Dr Lawan Ahmed Muhammad Sani, wey be di late Emir pikin, go now carry di traditional leadership of Gumel Emirate enter another chapter.
Before government appoint am, Dr Lawan dey hold di traditional title of Chiroman Gumel. E also get professional experience for technology and cybersecurity, including im time as Director of Cyber Security for di National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA.

According to di state government, di appointment follow di proper traditional process, as di kingmakers of Gumel Emirate recommend Dr Lawan before di Jigawa State Council of Chiefs and di state government.
