Kogi Dey Plan ₦8.55bn Social Investment Package Weh Go Reach 281,750 People for 21 LGAs.

Kogi State government don plan one ₦8.55 billion social investment package wey go benefit 281,750 people for all the 21 Local Government Areas (LGAs) for di state. Di programme go cover cash transfer, livelihood support, climate-smart public works, community development and farming support.

Di plan come out from information wey Kogi State Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, and Chairman of Kogi State Commissioners’ Forum, Asiwaju Asiru Idris, release. Di proposal show di number of people wey different programmes go benefit and di estimated money wey dem go spend.

Under di Social Cash Transfer Unit (SCTU), about 5,000 people go receive support under DLI 1.1, with estimated allocation of ₦1.237 billion.

Another SCTU programme, under DLI 1.3A, go provide livelihood support for 15,000 people, and di estimated cost na about ₦2 billion.

Di package still get Labour Intensive Public Works (LIPW) programme, wey go involve 3,400 beneficiaries for climate smart public works. Government estimate di programme at about ₦1.088 billion. Di idea na for people to get income support while dem dey work for community environmental and infrastructure projects.

For di Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA), di proposal set aside around ₦2.072 billion to support basic services and community infrastructure across Kogi State.

Di FADAMA programme too go support about 7,350 people with agricultural inputs and assets. Di estimated allocation for dis part na around ₦1.854 billion.

Another important part of di plan na to expand Kogi State Social Register. Under DLI 4.1 and DLI 4.2, di State Operations Coordinating Unit (SOCU) dey expected to cover 250,000 people, with estimated cost of about ₦300.55 million.

Altogether, di proposed programmes dey target social protection, support for vulnerable families, better livelihood and more economic opportunities, especially for agriculture and climate smart jobs.

Dis proposal dey come for time wey plenty Nigerian states dey use social protection and livelihood programmes to help vulnerable people manage di pressure wey economic challenges dey bring.

But because di figures na proposed beneficiaries and estimated costs, di real impact go depend on how government implement di programmes, when funds dey released and how many people finally receive di support.

Di Kogi plan therefore dey combine direct financial assistance with livelihood and agricultural support, with di aim of giving people immediate help while also creating opportunities wey fit support their income for long term.
