Liam Rosenior Emerges Front‑Runner to Replace Enzo Maresca as Chelsea Head Coach

Chelsea Football Club has confirmed the departure of *Enzo Maresca*, whose tenure as head coach ended on Thursday after just over a year in charge. According to multiple sources close to the club, the split followed a growing rift between Maresca and senior leadership particularly over issues of autonomy, medical decisions, and technical oversight.

remains narrow, and while other names have been floated in the media, several high‑profile coaches have already been ruled out. These include:

Chelsea’s Academy Director, will address the media ahead of the upcoming clash with Manchester City — but he is not a candidate for the permanent head‑coach role. He is, however, expected to lead the team temporarily for Sunday’s away trip to the Etihad Stadium, as the search for a long‑term successor continues.

Internally, Chelsea is said to remain committed to its existing support structure — despite friction during Maresca’s time. The former coach reportedly clashed with the club’s medical team, feeling that player availability was overly restricted. He also sought greater freedom to manage the squad without the level of detailed post‑match analysis provided by a five‑person sporting‑director group.

The club has yet to set a timeline for the appointment, but the pressure is on to name a new head coach quickly  especially with a tough Premier League fixture list looming and European ambitions still very much alive.
