Ganiyu Aikore, a father in Ogun State, is accused of impregnating his 17-year-old daughter in the Mokola Isale Tapa area of Abeokuta.
Upon discovering the pregnancy, Aikore allegedly sought abortion pills from a nearby pharmaceutical store. Concerned residents, including the daughter, reported the situation to the community chairman, who accompanied the daughter to file a complaint at the Adatan Police Division.
State Police Public Relations Officer Omolola Odutola confirmed the arrest, stating that Aikore was suspected of engaging in a prolonged incestuous relationship, and the pregnancy was 23 weeks. In a separate incident, the police recovered a stolen Toyota Matrix, leading to the arrest of two suspects.
Further investigations are underway, as revealed by the state police spokesperson on Wednesday.
