Minna Mining Tragedy: Parents of Miners Wey Die in NSCDC Custody Demand Compensation!

Parents of the artisanal miners wey die while dem dey under the hand of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, for Minna, Niger State, don ask government and the pipo wey get responsibility make Dem give compensation to the families of the dead miners.

The parents make the demand as anger and concern continue to grow over the death of 37 suspected illegal miners wey NSCDC arrest for operations against illegal mining for Niger State.

Them arrest the miners for areas around Mohammed Inuwa Wushishi Estate and oda mining locations for Minna. NSCDC later confirm say many of the pipo wey dey inside detention facility were found dead early Thursday.

One of the parents, Musa Aliyu, a 50-year-old man wey say e don dey sick for about one year, lose two of e children, Ibrahim, 17, and Abubakar, 12, for the incident.

The grieving father ask authorities to investigate the mata properly and make anybody wey investigation find responsible answer for wetin happen. He ask for compensation for the affected families.

The demand for compensation come as authorities dey investigate the exact cause of the deaths. NSCDC initially mention suspected disease outbreak, but the actual cause of the deaths has not been finally established.

Some survivors, however, describe the detention conditions as very difficult.
