Content Creators take over Benin City Mall/Shoprite to earn US dollars
Since operations commenced at the Benin City Mall on Sapele Road, there has been an upsurge of young people, who have thronged the expansive grounds of the mall to kick-start or horn their content creation journey and earn foreign dollars.
It is not uncommon to find many with ring lights, DSLR cameras and other gadgets creating content at the facility.
This is not surprising seeing that a lot of social media platforms have allowed for monetization on their platforms, especially Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, among others.
The mall is one of the Legacy projects of the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration, which decided against unrelenting campaign by detractors and the opposition to stick to the status quo and allow for a moribund state library to remain on the property.
So, young people are provided the opportunity to create content, engage followers and earn money from the opening of the new mall.
The mall is fitted with local and international retail outlets/brands such as Shoprite, Genesis Cinema, Kilimanjaro, Mama Ebo, KCEE devices MedPlus, among others.
