The Edo State Government has approved full educational scholarships for the three children of the late Brigadier General Oseni Omoh Braimah, who died while serving the nation.
Governor Monday Okpebholo granted the approval, ensuring the childrenās education will be fully funded from their current levels through university. The move, according to the government, reflects its commitment to honouring fallen military personnel and supporting their families.
The beneficiaries include Farida Hussain-Braimah, 18, a 100-level Software Engineering student at Nile University, Abuja; Amir Hussain-Braimah, 16, an SS3 student at Olumawu Senior School, Abuja; and Yasmeen Hussain-Braimah, 12, a JSS2 pupil at Olumawu Junior Secondary School, Abuja.
Speaking on the development, Governor Okpebholo described the gesture as both a moral duty and an act of responsible governance. He noted that the late Brigadier General made the ultimate sacrifice in service to Nigeria.
āIt is only right that we stand by the family he left behind and ensure his children have uninterrupted access to education,ā the governor said.
He reaffirmed his administrationās commitment to supporting the children throughout their academic journey to secure their future.
The late Brigadier General Braimah, described by the governor as a symbol of discipline, courage, and patriotism, died during ongoing security operations. He was buried with full military honours at the Maimalari Cantonment Cemetery in Maiduguri, Borno State.
Governor Okpebholo added that the scholarship initiative aligns with the education component of his administrationās SHINE Agenda, which prioritises human capital development and social welfare.
He also urged other state governments and private sector stakeholders to adopt similar initiatives to support families of military personnel who die in the line of duty.
