It was all smiles and laughter as the Nigerian Ambassador to the Italian Republic, Amb. MFAWA OMINI ABAM flagged off the customer service week for the year 2022 at the Embassy of Nigeria, Rome.

The event commenced with the unveiling of the Customer Service week banner by His Excellency, Amb Mfawa Omini Abam.

In her welcome remarks, the Head of the Immigration Section and Immigration Attachè 1 to the Mission, DCI LM ZAKARI called on Passport applicants to resist all forms of extortion and report corrupt practices to her office for disciplinary action against such erring individuals. She assured of her commitment to delivering on the statutory mandate of the Nigeria Immigration Service and prompt delivery of passport booklets while on her duty tour.

His Excellency Amb Mfawa Abam (Talk and do Ambassador) as people may call him, make it known several times during his speech stating the  Federal Government’s commitment to the fight against corruption while urging passport applicants to desist from patronizing touts and other unrecognized channels for passport applications. He emphasized the need to operate in an open-door policy while calling on all present to join hands in the fight against corruption and request for excellent service at all times.

In the spirit of the customer service week and to further deepen the Citizen-centred diplomacy priority of his administration, His Excellency Amb. Abam graciously directed the Immigration desk to immediately process and produce on the spot, the International Passports of all applicants, who were present during the opening ceremony. This unselfish spirit, and willingness to serve the Nigerian citizens without prejudice, lead to applause and commendation from all present.
