The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commissioned a 35,000-litre industrial borehole in Ohe community, located in Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State. The initiative forms part of the Force’s “quick-impact” projects aimed at improving the welfare of citizens in rural communities.
The project was inaugurated by Air Vice Marshal Ibikunle Daramola, representing the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar. In his remarks, the Air Chief emphasised that civil-military cooperation is vital for national stability and mutual trust. He added that providing access to clean water is one of the simplest yet most profound ways the military can contribute to community development.
Governor Monday Okpebholo, represented by his Chief of Staff, commended the Nigerian Air Force for its contribution to grassroots infrastructure. He noted that such initiatives go beyond the traditional role of defence and demonstrate the Force’s commitment to social responsibility.
The Project Coordinator, Air Vice Marshal Pius Oahimire, who hails from the host community, thanked the NAF leadership for their support and urged residents to take ownership of the facility to ensure its maintenance and sustainability.
This project is expected to ease the daily struggle for clean water in Ohe and neighbouring villages, improving health outcomes and enhancing quality of life.
