Nigerian Army Rescues Three Kidnap Victims in Kebbi as Security Operations Intensify.
Troops of the Nigerian Army under Sector 2 of Operation Fansan Yamma have rescued three kidnapped victims during a security operation in Sakaba Local Government Area of Kebbi State, highlighting ongoing efforts to protect vulnerable communities in Nigeria’s North West.
The rescue operation took place on Saturday, October 24, 2026, with two victims recovered in Makuku Village and the third in Dankolo Village.
According to reports by Punch, The Guardian and The Sun, the rescued victims were identified as Aisha Aminu, 46; Sumayya Aminu, 27; and Nana Abbas, 15.
The operation was confirmed on Sunday by Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, spokesperson for the Nigerian Army’s 8 Division. He stated that the mission was successfully concluded without any reported incident.
Following their rescue, the three victims were handed over to the District Head of Dirindaji, Alhaji Usman Muhammad, through the Chairman of Sakaba Local Government Area.
The handover was intended to facilitate their return to the appropriate local authorities and support their reunification with their families.
North-West Nigeria Continues to Face Security Challenges
The rescue comes amid persistent security concerns across parts of Nigeria’s North West, where kidnapping, armed attacks and other criminal activities continue to threaten lives, disrupt livelihoods and create uncertainty for rural communities.
Kebbi State, like other states in the region, faces the challenge of securing remote settlements and protecting residents from criminal groups operating across difficult terrain.
While the latest operation has secured the freedom of three abducted residents, details concerning the circumstances of their kidnapping, the identity of their captors and whether any suspects have been arrested were not provided in the reports reviewed.
Lieutenant Colonel Osoba reiterated the military’s commitment to protecting lives and property, stressing that troops would continue working to safeguard communities across the state.
The successful rescue represents a positive development for the affected families. However, sustained security operations, effective intelligence gathering and cooperation between security agencies and local communities remain important in addressing kidnapping and improving public safety across the region.
