Nigerian Embassy in Rome Warns Against Loitering, Unauthorized Trading Around Embassy Premises
ROME, ITALY — The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Rome has urged Nigerians and other visitors seeking consular services to comply with regulations governing conduct within the vicinity of the Embassy.
In a public notice dated 1 July 2026, the Embassy said it had received reports from host-country authorities and members of the neighbouring community concerning activities around the mission, particularly loitering, unauthorized selling and excessive noise.
The Embassy also drew attention to drinking and urinating in public spaces, stating that such behaviour contributes to noise pollution and public nuisance and affects peace and order within the neighbourhood.
Appointment Holders Only
According to the notice, only individuals with appointments will be allowed into the Embassy premises. People without appointments were asked not to loiter or engage in unauthorized selling around the Embassy while waiting for passport or other consular services.
Increased Security and Monitoring
The Embassy further stated that Italian authorities would increase security presence and monitoring around the mission.
It warned that anyone found engaging in activities contrary to applicable Italian laws and regulations could be dealt with by the relevant authorities.
The Embassy appealed to Nigerians and other visitors for cooperation in maintaining a respectful, peaceful and orderly environment around the diplomatic mission.
