Nigerian Troops Rescue 53 Hostages, Recover Eight Vehicles in Major Anti Terror Operation in Borno.

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have rescued 53 civilians held hostage by terrorists and recovered eight vehicles during a series of coordinated military operations against insurgents in Borno State, marking another significant development in Nigeria’s ongoing counter terrorism campaign in the North-East.

According to the Nigerian military, the successful operation targeted hideouts linked to fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and the Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal Jihad (JAS) faction, commonly known as Boko Haram. The operation formed part of sustained clearance missions aimed at dismantling terrorist networks, rescuing abducted civilians, and restoring security across communities affected by years of insurgency.

Military authorities disclosed that the rescued victims were safely evacuated and are expected to undergo medical assessment, profiling, and humanitarian support before being reunited with their families where possible. In addition to the rescued hostages, troops recovered eight operational vehicles, further weakening the logistical capabilities of the terrorist groups operating within the region.

Operation HADIN KAI has intensified offensive operations in recent months through coordinated land and air missions targeting terrorist enclaves across Borno and other parts of Nigeria’s North East. Security experts note that while such operations continue to degrade the operational strength of insurgent groups, sustained military pressure, intelligence gathering, humanitarian interventions, and community cooperation remain essential to achieving lasting peace in the region.

The Nigerian military has reiterated its commitment to protecting civilians and maintaining pressure on terrorist groups until normalcy is fully restored across the North East. Authorities also urged residents to continue providing credible intelligence that could assist ongoing security operations.
