Children from different parts of Benin City gathered at the palace of the Oba Ewuare II on Wednesday for a colourful Children’s Day celebration organised by the Benin Royal Palace.

The annual event, which coincided with the Eid-el-Kabir festivities, featured dancing competitions, music, games, gift presentations and entertainment for children, parents and guardians.

Excited children displayed their dancing skills and participated in various fun activities, while the infant princes and princesses of the Benin monarch, including the royal quadruplets, thrilled guests with dance performances that attracted cheers from the crowd.

Addressing the children on behalf of the palace, Chief Osaigbovo Osamwonyi, the Akenuwa of Benin, and Chief Victor Igbineweka, the Osayuwanoba of Benin, advised them to shun social vices and remain obedient to their parents and guardians.
They also encouraged the children to take their academic work seriously and strive to make their families and Nigeria proud.
Palace officials and security personnel were on ground throughout the celebration to ensure order and comfort for guests at the event.
