The Edo State Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, Hon. Chris Ewere Okaeben, has called on staff of the ministry to redouble their efforts in achieving the goals of the state government.
Okaeben made the call during his maiden meeting with management and staff of the ministry, where he urged them to work in unity and see themselves as one big family committed to service delivery.
He stressed that unity of purpose and professionalism are essential for the ministry to effectively deliver on its mandate in line with the SHINE Agenda of the administration of Monday Okpebholo.
The commissioner assured staff of his commitment to consolidating on the achievements of his predecessors, noting that discipline, innovation, teamwork and dedication would be key drivers in repositioning the ministry.
“I call on you to be committed to your duties, develop new ideas, ensure collective effort and cooperation for effective service delivery and the attainment of our set goals,” he said.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Iryn Omorogiuwa, Esq., welcomed the commissioner and described the workforce as highly motivated and committed. She pledged the staff’s readiness to support the commissioner in turning around the fortunes of the ministry.
Omorogiuwa also expressed confidence that Okaeben’s wealth of experience as a seasoned administrator would positively impact the ministry.
Okaeben, who was sworn in last December by Governor Okpebholo, previously served as Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Senior Special Assistant to former Governor Adams Oshiomhole, Executive Director at the Petroleum Monitoring Committee, Supervisory Councillor for Youths and Sports in Oredo Local Government, and Secretary to the Oredo Local Government Council.
He also served two terms as a member representing Oredo West Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly and was a member of the Federal College of Education (Technical) Governing Board.
