Okpebholo Commends Nigerian Army for Remodelling Edo Schools, Says Intervention Will Strengthen Education.
Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has commended the Nigerian Army for its intervention in the state’s education sector, particularly the remodelling of Ezomo Primary and Secondary Schools.
The governor described the military’s contribution as a significant boost to educational development, noting that improved school infrastructure would help create a more conducive environment for teaching and learning.
Okpebholo’s commendation highlights the importance of collaboration between government institutions and the Nigerian Army in supporting community development beyond the military’s traditional security responsibilities.
The remodelling of the schools is expected to improve the physical learning environment and provide pupils and students with better facilities to support their academic activities.
The intervention also comes amid broader efforts by the Edo State Government to address infrastructure challenges in public schools across the state.
Since assuming office in November 2024, Okpebholo has repeatedly emphasized education infrastructure as a priority of his administration. In February 2025, his government announced plans to reconstruct and renovate 100 public schools across Edo’s three senatorial districts.
In March 2025, the governor also ordered urgent renovation work at Army Day Secondary School in Ikpoba Okha and Evbareke Secondary School in Egor following inspections that exposed significant infrastructure deficiencies.
The state’s wider education programme has included classroom rehabilitation, improved school facilities and efforts to make public education more accessible.
However, beyond the renovation of school buildings, sustained investment in qualified teachers, instructional materials, adequate funding and proper maintenance will remain essential to improving educational outcomes.
The Nigerian Army’s involvement in the remodelling of Ezomo Primary and Secondary Schools further underscores the potential of institutional partnerships in advancing grassroots development.
For Edo State, the long term value of the intervention will ultimately depend on how effectively the improved facilities translate into better learning conditions and educational opportunities for children.
