Governor Monday Okpebholo for Edo State don renew commitment for make Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, better. Di government wan put more attention for staff welfare, training, school buildings and better learning environment.
Edo Commissioner for Education, Dr Washington Osifo, talk say di state government still ready for support di university financially. E add say di government go help for staff and student welfare, training and important building work wey di university need.
For February 2025, Governor Okpebholo appoint new Governing Council for AAU and charge dem for bring back di good name of di university and make am strong for academic work. Di government also increase di university monthly money support from ₦41 million reach ₦500 million, plus extra support for building and other important needs.
AAU don also make some progress for medical and nursing programmes. For 2025, di university management talk say government support help 128 medical graduates wey don face delay to get clearance for their professional induction. Some regulatory approvals for programmes inside di College of Medicine also don improve.
But di university still get serious challenges, including unpaid salaries and other old debts. Needs like student hostels, lecture halls, accreditation facilities, pensions and gratuities still dey among di issues wey need attention. Governor Okpebholo don promise say di government go work to settle di old obligations and support di university for long term development.
