Okpebholo praise di lawmakers for standing strong with di people of Edo State. E say di way dem handle di matter show say dem serious about di development and progress of di state.

Wetin Di New Laws Mean

Before di governor sign di bills, Speaker Yekini Idiaye explain say di new laws no mean say House of Assembly or Judiciary go lose di money wey government suppose give dem.

E say di normal funds wey dey go Assembly and Judiciary go still continue, but di major change na for how dem go manage capital funds.

Idiaye explain say di governor want make sure say capital money no go dey misused. According to am, di Executive go continue to manage capital expenditure through di appropriation process.

E say Assembly and Judiciary go still fit bring proposals for capital projects. But before dem fit spend money for those big projects, dem go submit di proposals to di Executive for approval.

Di development come as Nigeria dey continue to push for stronger financial independence for state Houses of Assembly and state judiciaries.

Di idea behind financial autonomy na to allow di Legislature and Judiciary perform dia constitutional duties without unnecessary financial interference, while still maintaining di separation of powers among di three arms of government.

For Edo State, di issue don already cause some disagreement. Judicial workers under Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) had protested over proposed changes to di financial autonomy laws and demanded action from lawmakers.

With Okpebholo now signing di two bills into law, attention go turn to how di new arrangement go work for real life and how di Executive, Assembly and Judiciary go manage dia different financial responsibilities.
