Okpebholo to Reconstruct Mechanic, Peanut Roads, Declares Three-Day Thanksgiving in Edo

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has announced plans to commence the reconstruction of Mechanic and Peanut roads in Benin City as part of efforts to ease persistent traffic congestion along the Sapele Road corridor.

The governor made the announcement during a church service at Winners Chapel, Sapele Road, where he also approved a three-day statewide thanksgiving and praise programme in appreciation to God for His blessings upon Edo State.

According to Okpebholo, officials of the Ministry of Works will soon evaluate the roads and begin the necessary reconstruction works to improve traffic flow and provide motorists with better road infrastructure.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to improving the living conditions of Edo residents through the delivery of democratic dividends and sustainable development projects across the state.

The governor also highlighted his administration’s efforts in tackling insecurity, particularly cult-related activities, noting that significant progress has been made in restoring peace and safety in the state.

“Today, we are no longer afraid of cultism in the state because this administration is working tirelessly to put an end to it. God is using me to change the story of Edo State,” he said.

Okpebholo expressed appreciation to the presiding pastor, Charles Osazuwa, for his prayers and support, recalling that the cleric had encouraged him to pursue his governorship ambition and predicted his victory.

Responding to Pastor Osazuwa’s request for a special day of thanksgiving for the state, the governor approved the proposal and expanded it into a three-day event.

“Edo State is a Christian state, and God has been faithful to us. Rather than one day, we will declare a three-day thanksgiving and praise programme for Jesus Christ,” he stated.

The governor assured residents that the reconstruction of the strategic roads connecting the bypass would commence soon.

“You voted for me because you want development. Peanut and Mechanic roads leading to the bypass will be constructed. Consider the roads done,” he said.

Earlier in his sermon titled The Force of Expectation, Pastor Osazuwa urged Nigerians to maintain faith in God and remain hopeful about the country’s future despite prevailing challenges.

Drawing from biblical passages including Jeremiah 20:11, Genesis 2:7 and Genesis 18:14, the cleric expressed confidence that Nigeria would overcome its current difficulties.

He appealed to the governor to prioritise the reconstruction of Mechanic and Peanut roads, describing them as critical routes that would help reduce traffic congestion on Sapele Road.

Pastor Osazuwa also called for the institutionalisation of a state thanksgiving day that would be sustained by successive administrations.

Governor Okpebholo later joined worshippers at Winners Chapel, Sapele Road, for the church service.
