Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has urged residents to support President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections, arguing that the Federal Government’s economic reforms are beginning to deliver development and improved governance.
Okpebholo made the appeal on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, during a visit to the Ojuromi of Uromi, HRH Zaiki Anselm Aidenojie II, at his palace in Esan North-East Local Government Area. Members of the All Progressives Congress accompanied the governor.
The governor highlighted ongoing projects in Edo, including road construction, primary healthcare upgrades, school development and the regular payment of workers’ salaries. He acknowledged that infrastructure projects take time to produce visible results but maintained that completed and ongoing road projects would improve transportation and economic activities across the state.
On electricity, Okpebholo announced plans for a 100-megawatt power plant in Edo South, alongside another project expected to add 16 megawatts to the state’s power supply.
He attributed the progress he described to cooperation with the Tinubu administration, urging Edo residents not to place the state in opposition to the Federal Government.
Earlier, Aidenojie II, speaking on behalf of the Esan traditional rulers, commended the governor’s development efforts and prayed for wisdom and continued success in office. He also expressed confidence in the completion of Okpebholo’s anticipated eight-year tenure.
The governor’s appeal comes as political parties and their supporters begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections. The administration’s claims on infrastructure and electricity will remain important areas for residents to assess as projects progress.
Edo Governor Monday Okpebholo urges residents to support Tinubu in 2027, citing ongoing road projects, healthcare upgrades and planned power generation projects.
