Michael Olise scored a hat-trick as France beat Northern Ireland 3-1 in a World Cup warm-up friendly at Lille’s Decathlon Arena on June 8, 2026.
The Bayern Munich forward struck twice just before and after half-time, pouncing on rebounds against a packed Northern Ireland defence. Barnsley’s Patrick Kelly briefly pulled one back for the visitors in the 64th minute, but Olise sealed the win with a curling left-foot shot from outside the box ten minutes later.
France fielded a strong front four of Olise, Kylian Mbappe, Desire Doue, and Ousmane Dembele, with William Saliba also returning to the lineup. Mbappe, one goal short of equalling Olivier Giroud’s France scoring record, had a quiet night, and the attack looked disjointed at times despite constant pressure on Northern Ireland
