The Oredo Local Government Council has defended the ongoing maintenance of Ugbor Road, describing the project as part of a deliberate effort by the Council Chairman, Hon. Engr. Gabriel Iduseri, to improve infrastructure and enhance ease of movement across the local government area.
In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Council, Mr. Igumah M. Quist, the council responded to criticisms by Mr. Curtis Eghosa Ugbo, stressing that while citizens have the right to express concerns, public comments should be guided by facts and fairness.
According to the statement, the Ugbor Road intervention is a continuation of several road maintenance projects already executed by the administration, including works carried out at Igun, New Benin by Total, Gapiona, and other parts of Oredo Local Government Area.
The council maintained that the Chairman has consistently demonstrated commitment to completing projects and delivering quality services to residents.
Beyond road maintenance, the administration highlighted a number of achievements recorded under the leadership of Hon. Engr. Gabriel Iduseri. These include the renovation and upgrading of schools, construction of markets, road grading in various communities, environmental sanitation campaigns, youth empowerment programmes, skills acquisition initiatives, and other community development projects aimed at improving living standards across Oredo.
The statement dismissed claims that public resources were being wasted or that projects were being undertaken for political reasons, insisting that all initiatives under the Project SHINE Agenda are designed to address the needs of residents and promote sustainable grassroots development.
“The administration remains focused on delivering tangible dividends of democracy to the people of Oredo rather than being distracted by unfounded criticisms,” the statement said.
While welcoming constructive criticism, the council urged stakeholders to acknowledge the progress already made and support efforts geared towards advancing development in the local government area.
The council further reiterated that Hon. Engr. Gabriel Iduseri remains open to genuine partnerships and constructive engagement aimed at accelerating growth and development in Oredo communities.
