Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke Moves into Government House After 16 Months

In a significant development, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has finally moved into the Okefia Government House in Osogbo, the official residence of the governor. This comes after approximately one year and four months since he assumed office as the governor of the state.Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke Moves into Government House After 16 Months

Adeleke was sworn in on March 27, 2024, and instead of immediately moving into the Government House like his predecessors, he chose to reside in his private house in the neighboring town of Ede. Despite facing criticism from the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), Adeleke continued to operate from his private residence, citing ongoing renovation work at the Government House as the reason.

However, a recent statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, announced that the renovation work had been completed, and Adeleke has now officially moved into the Government House. The rehabilitation efforts included the main house, the completion of a previously abandoned multi-bedroom guest house, remodeling of several structures, and the restoration of various dilapidated facilities.

During the unveiling ceremony of the renovated Government House, which was attended by top officials of the Osun State Government, Adeleke emphasized his administration’s commitment to upgrading state assets, regardless of whether they were inherited or initiated by him. He highlighted the importance of preserving and improving government facilities for the benefit of future generations, stating that neglecting such assets is a sign of poor leadership.

Adeleke also emphasized that his government is not only focused on completing inherited projects but is also initiating new ones. He expressed his dedication to delivering on the five-point agenda and ensuring the sustained delivery of good governance in Osun State.

However, the Osun APC Chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, criticized the renovated Government House, considering it a misplaced priority. In a statement, Lawal expressed disappointment that while governors in other states are focused on alleviating the effects of the removal of fuel subsidy, Adeleke chose to celebrate the completion of a project that he claimed had already been rehabilitated by the previous governor, Gboyega Oyetola.

It is clear that the renovation and Adeleke’s move into the Government House have sparked contrasting opinions and reactions. As the governor settles into his new residence, it remains to be seen how his administration will continue to shape the future of Osun State.
