Police don ask VDM make e bring evidence to support the serious thing wey e talk for Nigerian Bar Association conference for Port Harcourt. VDM talk say some police officers wey dey work for highway checkpoints fit dey collect information about travellers, especially people wey get money, then pass the information give kidnappers and bandits so dem fit target the people for ransom kidnapping.

Police Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, say the force no accept the allegation because dem see am as serious but no evidence dey yet to back am up. Police say officers wey dey checkpoints na people wey suppose protect travellers and stop criminals, and plenty of dem dey work for dangerous areas where kidnappers and other criminals dey attack security personnel.

The police don therefore invite VDM make e bring whatever evidence, documents, recordings or other information wey e get concerning the allegation. Police say if VDM provide any evidence, dem go treat am seriously and investigate am properly.

The matter come after VDM made the allegation during the 2026 NBA Annual General Conference for Port Harcourt. Police Commissioner Silas Aremu, wey also speak for the same session, acknowledge say bad elements fit abuse checkpoints, but e reject the idea say police officers routinely dey pass travellers’ information give criminals.

For now, the big question na whether VDM go bring the evidence wey police dey ask for. If e produce credible evidence, police say dem go investigate the matter.
