The Defence Headquarters has called on the Governor of Katsina State, Dikko Radda, to provide evidence to substantiate his allegations against the military.

Prove claim military is profiting from terrorism, DHQ tells govThe governor had accused the military of aiding and profiting from terrorism in his state during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today program on   In response, the Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen. Buba Edward, stated that the military would not engage in a war of words with the governor but instead encouraged him to approach the military high command to present his evidence.

The Defence Headquarters emphasized that it is subservient to all elected government representatives and holds its relationship with utmost respect. The military also stated that it remains unperturbed by such statements and will continue conducting operations and working diligently in the fight against terrorism. The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa OFR, leads the Armed Forces of Nigeria with zero tolerance for indiscipline and criminality in operations. The military has established standing court martials to address any misconduct by troops, especially those that tarnish the image of the military.

The statement from the Defence Headquarters also urged citizens to take ownership of the military and report any observed misconduct by personnel. The Armed Forces exist for the Nigerian people, and it is essential for citizens to report any credible instances of misconduct so that appropriate military justice can be administered. The military remains committed to upholding discipline and ensuring that troops conduct themselves professionally and positively represent the military to the general populace.

In conclusion, the Defence Headquarters has responded to the allegations made by the Governor of Katsina State, urging him to provide evidence to support his claims.

The military emphasizes its commitment to working against terrorism and maintaining discipline within its ranks. It calls on citizens to report any misconduct and reaffirms its dedication to serving the Nigerian people.
