The matter happen for Friday, August 28, 2026, after two female students wey dey stay for the same room allegedly get personal misunderstanding wey later turn physical fight.
According to police information, the suspect, wey dem identify as Felicia, na 500-level student. Police allege say she boil water, add salt and pepper inside, then pour the hot mixture for the body of her roommate, Rose, wey dey 200 level for Political Science. After the attack, police say Felicia allegedly lock Rose inside the room.
Rose reportedly sustain serious injuries and people for the area later hear wetin happen and rush come help am. Dem carry am go hospital where medical workers begin treat the injuries. Police later arrest Felicia as investigation continue.
Benue State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Peter Aondongu, confirm say the incident happen and say police still dey investigate to know wetin really cause the disagreement between the two students.
Aondongu explain say both girls bin dey stay together before the misunderstanding happen. He say police never yet get the full story about how the palava take start, so dem still dey question people and gather information to establish exactly wetin happen.
The students’ union for the university don also condemn the incident. The union president, Akighirga Vitalis, together with some members of his executive, reportedly visit Rose for hospital to check her condition.
Vitalis say Rose explain to them say she and Felicia bin get some personal disagreement before the matter escalate into physical fight. He condemn violence among students and say students suppose find peaceful way to settle disagreement instead of using dangerous objects or actions wey fit put another person’s life for danger.
The students’ union also promise say dem go work with university authorities and security agencies as investigation continue. If police investigation and other evidence prove the allegation against Felicia, the union president say the university go take appropriate disciplinary action according to school rules, including possible expulsion if the offence deserve am.
For now, police investigation still dey continue as authorities dey try establish the real cause of the disagreement and wetin exactly happen before the alleged hot water attack.
