SENIOR CITIZENS CENTRE DEY BRING JOY AND HAPPINESS FOR OLD PEOPLE FOR UYO.
As pipo dey old, e fit be say dem go start dey lonely, dey stay one corner, and no get plenty chance to jam pipo or gist with dem. But for Senator Oluremi Tinubu Senior Citizens Centre for Uyo, old people dey get chance to enjoy music, laugh, make friends and create sweet memories together.
Di centre wey dey for outskirts of Uyo, di capital of Akwa Ibom State, jolly well as plenty senior citizens and regular visitors gather for one special programme dem call Karaoke Hangout: Golden Voices and Golden Memories*. Di programme na to help old people link up, make dem happy for mind and still live active life even as dem dey old.
From old popular songs reach new songs, di senior citizens dey take turn for microphone, dem dey sing and dance while oda people dey clap and ginger dem. Di evening get karaoke challenge, complete di lyrics, and name dat artist competition, and people wey win go collect prizes.
Di gathering no be just for fun alone. E dey give di people chance to see old padi dem again, show skills wey dem fit no get chance show before, and make dem feel say dem still be part of di community.
As she dey talk to di people, Lady Obareki say di programme na part of di vision of her late mama, Patience Umo Eno*, wey wan make place wey old people fit chill well for di later part of dia life with respect, friendship and joy. She talk say di koko na make sure say old people no just dey siddon for house alone, but get place wey dem fit jam people, yarn together, enjoy and keep strong social links.
Lady Obareki give big thanks to Governor Pastor Umo Eno for backing di vision and helping make di centre come true. She stress say di importance of di centre no be only di building, but e still dey for di care and attention wey dem dey give elderly people for di state. She also praise di Delivery Advisor of di Centre, Dr Itawan James, together with di staff and caregivers, for making di place welcoming and for providing services like medical checks, dental care and eye examinations for elderly people.
Lady Obareki encourage more senior citizens to dey visit and use di Centre regularly. She describe di place as somewhere wey old people fit relax, meet others, build connections and continue to take part for community life.
Before dat, Dr Itawan James explain say dem organise di karaoke gathering to celebrate senior citizens and give dem a place where dem fit relax, express themselves and make new friendships, especially as Akwa Ibom State dey celebrate its 39th anniversary. Dr James say di Centre still dey focus on programmes wey go improve di quality of life of elderly people. He note say people wey don contribute plenty to di development of society deserve places where dem fit enjoy friendship and continue to take active part for community life.
Di senior citizens themselves na di main people for di celebration. Dem thank di organisers and describe di gathering as good chance to leave dia normal routine, meet friends, sing, dance and enjoy themselves.

E also need friendship, recreation, healthcare, dignity and chances for dem to continue to take part for society.
