The United States Embassy in Abuja has issued a stern warning to Nigerian visa applicants, emphasizing that any involvement in visa fraud can lead to severe penalties, including a lifetime ban from entering the United States. In a Monday post on its official X account, the embassy cautioned against falsifying information or submitting counterfeit documents during the application process.
“Visa fraud has serious consequences. Lying or providing fake documents can lead to permanent visa bans under U.S. immigration law,” the embassy stated.
The alert follows a meeting between U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria, Richard Mills, and Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, where the two discussed bilateral relations and areas of cooperation.
The embassy reiterated its commitment to working together with Nigeria on matters of mutual concern.
The warning underscores the importance of honesty and transparency when applying for U.S. visas. Applicants are urged to ensure all information and documents submitted are accurate, as any deception could result in irreversible bans and other legal repercussions.
