President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the founder and Chairman of Zenith Bank Plc, Jim Ovia, on his 75th birthday, recognising his contributions to Nigeria’s banking industry, economic development and private-sector growth.

The President described Ovia as a visionary entrepreneur, accomplished banker and distinguished business leader whose entrepreneurial achievements have contributed significantly to the growth of Nigeria’s financial services sector.

In a congratulatory message issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu praised Ovia’s dedication, resilience and commitment to excellence.

The President acknowledged Ovia’s pioneering role in establishing Zenith Bank in the 1990s and transforming it into one of Nigeria’s leading financial institutions, with a significant presence across Africa, Europe and other international markets.

“Mr Ovia’s dedication, resilience and commitment to excellence have not only grown Zenith Bank into a banking behemoth but also helped the growth of the Nigerian financial services sector,” Tinubu said.

Tinubu further noted that Ovia’s entrepreneurial journey demonstrates the importance of innovation, discipline, sound corporate governance and long-term investment in national development.

The President also commended the banking entrepreneur for his contributions beyond the financial sector, particularly in digital infrastructure, financial awareness and inclusion, education, youth empowerment, philanthropy and human capital development.

He specifically acknowledged Ovia’s initiatives aimed at creating opportunities for young Nigerians to develop their potential and contribute to national progress.
