‎

‎President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State of continued support from the Federal Government, commending the Governor’s developmental strides, particularly the revival of the New Edo Line Transport Service.

‎

‎The President gave this assurance during the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held Thursday in Abuja, where party leaders and stakeholders from across the country gathered.

‎

‎“I congratulate the Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, on the Supreme Court affirmation of his mandate,” President Tinubu said to applause. “We have seen the good work. We congratulate you on the newly-launched Edo Line. We will continue to work with you.”

‎

‎The President’s remarks mark a significant endorsement of Governor Okpebholo’s leadership, signaling deepening alignment between the APC-led Federal Government and the Edo State Government. It also underscores Abuja’s confidence in Okpebholo’s direction, just months into his tenure.

‎

‎Under Governor Okpebholo, the Edo Line Transport Service long considered moribund has been revamped with a modern fleet, improved management, and renewed operational efficiency. The revival is widely seen as a major boost to intra-state mobility, job creation, and the restoration of confidence in public infrastructure.

‎

‎Observers have noted that the new Edo Line is more than a transport service it is a statement of intent. Designed to reduce travel costs, ease commuter burden, and link rural and urban areas, it fits squarely into the state government’s wider vision of development through functional infrastructure.

‎

‎President Tinubu’s commendation comes amid broader collaboration between his administration and Edo State. From federal-backed roadworks and security coordination to the implementation of national agriculture and social investment programmes, the partnership is gaining traction.

‎

‎Governor Okpebholo, who has repeatedly praised President Tinubu’s governance philosophy, is seen to be translating that inspiration into action at the grassroots. His administration’s early focus on youth empowerment, revenue reform, and digital governance mirrors key pillars of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

‎

‎With the Supreme Court’s recent affirmation of Okpebholo’s election, political analysts believe the door is now open for stronger policy alignment between Edo and the centre—especially in key areas such as transport, healthcare, education, and agriculture.

‎

‎Edo residents have begun to feel the impact of this synergy. Beyond improved roads and transport, initiatives under the Renewed Hope Agenda are already being localized from rural electrification efforts to agricultural support schemes targeting smallholder farmers and cooperatives.
