Turin Opens New Accessible Cycle Pedestrian Walkway at Meisino Park, Connecting Green Spaces and Promoting Safer Mobility.
A new cycle pedestrian walkway at Meisino Park in Turin, Italy, has officially opened, creating a safer and more accessible connection between two sections of the popular green space that were previously separated by Corso Don Luigi Sturzo.
The newly operational structure represents the first completed component of a broader redevelopment project at Meisino Park and is designed to improve movement for pedestrians, cyclists and people with reduced mobility. The walkway also provides a more direct connection to the area’s cycling routes, including the VenTo cycle route.
According to reports, the approximately 230-metre walkway was built with Corten steel and features an average gradient of about seven per cent, allowing it to be used by people with disabilities and others with limited mobility. The project was funded with an investment of approximately €1 million.
The walkway forms part of a wider plan to revitalize Meisino Park and the nearby Cascina Malpensata, including the development of a Centre for Sport and Environmental Education. Local authorities say the project is intended to make the park more accessible, safer and more inclusive for recreational, sporting and tourism activities.
The opening also highlights the growing focus on sustainable urban mobility and inclusive public infrastructure, as cities increasingly seek to improve pedestrian and cycling networks while ensuring that public spaces can be accessed by people of all abilities.
