TURIN TURNS MEMORY INTO HOPE: A CITY HONORS BEATRICE AND STEFANIA

A deeply emotional and inspiring day unfolded in District 6 of Turin, where institutions, associations, and citizens came together to celebrate a powerful message: transforming pain into hope.

“It is a truly important day,” it was declared during the ceremony, “one that fills our hearts and gives hope to those facing long and difficult health journeys.”
These words reflect a growing community built on solidarity—one that stands firmly beside the most vulnerable.

At the heart of the event was the commitment of Walter Galliano, President of NIDA – National Italian Friendship Association (Onlus), who expressed gratitude to the City of Turin for the dedication and recognition. He retraced a journey defined by vision, resilience, and compassion.

From that vision emerged the Cittadella in Via degli Ulivi—a remarkable symbol of renewal. Once an abandoned area, it has been transformed into a vibrant 40,000-square-meter community space, cleared of over 100 tons of waste and now home to football, padel, and tennis facilities. Today, it stands as a beacon of inclusion, accessibility, and hope.

The project also extends into pediatric hospitals through the national initiative “Superheroes and Princesses,” bringing joy and light to children facing serious illnesses.

A STORY THAT TOUCHED HEARTS

The ceremony was deeply rooted in the memory of Beatrice Naso and her mother Stefania Fiorentino, whose lives continue to inspire many.

Dr Roberto Laudati, who followed Beatrice’s medical journey, recalled her extraordinary will to live and the unwavering love of her mother, who stood by her side every day.

That love was also honoured by Barbara Gariglio, who expressed deep gratitude as her daughter’s dream finally became reality: a space open to all, built on inclusion and care.

INSTITUTIONS UNITED FOR CHANGE

Among the dignitaries present was Andrea Tronzano, who praised the social impact of the initiative:

“From a painful story, a path of hope has been born—one that continues to grow. Sport becomes a tool for connection, community, and healing.”

The ceremony concluded with remarks from Maria Grazia Grippo, who described the dedication as a long-awaited and meaningful act:

“Today, we transform a private story into public memory. It is a powerful statement—a city choosing to remain human.”

Special recognition was also given to Pietro Tuttolomondo, who promoted the initiative, alongside representatives of District 6.

THE LEGACY OF LOVE AND COURAGE

Beatrice, who lived with a rare and painful condition that progressively limited her movement, left an extraordinary mark despite her young age. By her side was always her mother Stefania—a woman who transformed suffering into purpose.

In 2012, together with her family, she founded the non-profit “Il Mondo di Bea”, dedicated to supporting research, raising awareness about rare diseases, and improving the lives of children facing similar challenges.

After Stefania’s passing due to cancer in 2017, and Beatrice’s shortly after, their story has continued to live on—through a community that refuses to forget and continues to build.

A SYMBOL OF THE FUTURE

The Cittadella is more than just a place—it is a living symbol.

A symbol of inclusion, resilience, and collective responsibility. A project that continues to grow, with plans to expand medical facilities and care spaces, supported by the strength of community involvement.

As powerfully stated during the ceremony:

“A truly civil society is measured by how it protects its children and by its ability to never become indifferent to pain.”

And on this day, Turin made a clear choice—to remain human, and to keep hope alive.
