Reported by Musa Antiketu,| Journalist at Obaland magazine.

A UK-based Nigerian author, Itoro Abigeal Oyewobi, has launched three books designed to promote personal development, resilience, life skills and career readiness, with the initiative also linked to a wider charitable effort supporting communities in Coventry and Warwickshire.

The three titles — My Ready Helper, The Prepared Teen and EdgeCraft — were launched on August 12, 2026, as part of an initiative aimed at connecting personal development with practical community support.

According to reports published ahead of the launch, Oyewobi committed 100 per cent of her author royalties from the three books to three charities in Coventry and Warwickshire. The initiative is intended to generate a continuing source of funding for community-focused programmes rather than functioning solely as a one-off charitable donation.

Books designed around different stages of development

My Ready Helper: A Guide to Growing Into Oneself focuses on resilience and the importance of recognising and developing personal support systems. The book is positioned as a resource for readers navigating challenges and personal growth.

The Prepared Teen: Building Confidence, Skills and Resilience for the Future addresses issues relevant to adolescents, including confidence, emotional development, life skills and preparation for the pressures associated with modern teenage life. Book listings describe it as a practical guide intended to help young people develop the confidence and resilience needed to navigate social and academic pressures.

The third title, EdgeCraft: Redefining Readiness for a Changing World, extends the developmental theme into professional and career preparation, focusing on individuals seeking to strengthen their competitiveness and readiness in a changing employment environment.

The three-book approach therefore spans different stages of development — from childhood and adolescence to adulthood and professional life — reflecting Oyewobi’s broader emphasis on preparedness, empowerment and resilience.

Literature linked to community development

Beyond the books themselves, the initiative has attracted attention because of its charitable component. The Nation reported that Oyewobi signed an agreement committing all author royalties from the three titles to charitable organisations serving Coventry and Warwickshire.

The reported beneficiaries include initiatives supporting disabled children, youth mentorship, food assistance and programmes for older people. The publishers described the arrangement as a long-term community funding mechanism tied directly to book sales.

For an African author living in the United Kingdom, the initiative also illustrates how literary work can be positioned beyond commercial publishing, using books as vehicles for education, personal development and social investment.

Oyewobi’s work extends beyond authorship. Academic records identify her as affiliated with the University of East London and list research examining strategic innovation, competitiveness and sustainability.

The triple-book project consequently places education, personal development and community philanthropy within a single initiative. Its significance will ultimately depend not only on readership but also on the measurable impact of the charitable commitments attached to the books.

For Obaland magazine, the development is noteworthy as an example of African talent in the diaspora using publishing and knowledge production as tools for youth development and wider community engagement.
