Wale Tinubu Joins President Tinubu for Umrah in Makkah, Calls for Nigeria’s Peace and Prosperity.
Businessman and Group Chief Executive of Oando Plc, Jubril Adewale Tinubu, popularly known as Wale Tinubu, has joined President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in performing the lesser Islamic pilgrimage, Umrah, in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
Wale Tinubu disclosed his participation in the spiritual exercise through a post on X, describing the opportunity to accompany the Nigerian President to the holy city as an honour.
Reflecting on the significance of the pilgrimage, the Oando chief executive highlighted the values of humility, gratitude, brotherhood and service, noting that personal and professional distinctions become less significant in the sacred atmosphere of Makkah.
He also expressed prayers for the acceptance of their acts of worship and called for peace, progress and prosperity in Nigeria.
President Bola Tinubu travelled to Saudi Arabia on Thursday, October 29, 2026, to perform Umrah and offer prayers for Nigeria’s peace, unity, stability and continued development.
According to the Presidency, the President completed the pilgrimage early on Friday, October 30, at the Grand Mosque, Masjid al Haram, where he performed the religious rites, including circumambulating the Holy Ka’bah.
Speaking after the exercise, President Tinubu expressed gratitude to Allah and said his prayers focused on national harmony, security, economic prosperity and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.
The President also called for stronger national unity, urging Nigerians to embrace the country’s diversity as a foundation for development and collective progress.
Wale Tinubu was not the only prominent Nigerian business figure accompanying the President. Abdul Samad Rabiu, Chairman of BUA Group, also joined the delegation in Makkah.
The participation of leading figures from Nigeria’s private sector has attracted attention, highlighting the intersection of business leadership, national politics and religious observance.
Umrah, commonly described as the lesser pilgrimage, is an important Islamic act of worship performed in Makkah. Unlike the obligatory Hajj, which takes place during a specific period in the Islamic calendar, Umrah can be undertaken at any time of the year.
President Tinubu’s visit forms part of his spiritual engagements in Saudi Arabia, with the Presidency indicating that he is expected to return to Nigeria next week.
As Nigeria continues to grapple with economic pressures, insecurity and political challenges, the prayers offered by the President and other prominent Nigerians have renewed attention on the country’s need for peace, stability and inclusive national development.
