For the impending 2023 general elections, the Labour Party, LP, has decided to back Omatseye Nesiama, the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) senatorial candidate for Delta South.

At his official campaign launch at Owhelogbo Ward 5 and Obidient Movement, Otor-Igho Ward 13 in Delta State’s Isoko North Local Government Area, Nesiama adopted a child.

Mr Patrick Adaighofua, Chairman of the Labour Party (LP) in Owhelogbo Ward 5, made these remarks: “We will collaborate and we will beat them.” “They come, they take our money, they construct palaces, and we have nothing to show for it.”

Adaighofua said that if the two groups collaborate, they would be able to defeat the opposition more easily.

“those who have had the senate seat in the past have failed us, there’s no influence from them,” he said.

Adaighofua called on the party’s loyal and the general public to back Omatseye Nesiama, the candidate for senator, in the forthcoming election, saying that the people desire change.

He emphasised that voters should consider themselves independent. In 2023, we won’t be supporting any one political faction in the polls. The political structure has shifted. This era has seen the fall of all major political parties. We have moved past the “party first” age.

Adaighofua said that the country’s misery is affecting every citizen.

Adding, “let no politician delude himself on the platform of any political party,” he urged the lawmakers to bring their families to vote in the election.

The Obidient Movement’s Ward 13 Coordinator in Otor-Igho, Oshare Jethro, has also publicly stated his group’s support for Omatseye Nesiama.

He reassured them, saying, “We are here for you.” That which was once the farmers has been snatched from him. The people do not automatically have the right to vote.

Jethro said, “Only the qualified, like Commodore Nesiama, ought to arise and represent them in the Senate.”

Jethro also said that the People’s Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress are no longer viable political options.

Do the right thing by the grace of God when you get there, he said.

Vincent Obasiki, chairman of the LP in Owhelogbo, has said that the party is looking for candidates who can be held to account and who have shown leadership in times of national crisis.
