After losing the polls on Saturday, the Nollywood actress-turned-politician Funke Akindele has finally spoken out.

Returning officer Adenike Oladiji of INEC made the official announcement, saying that Incident Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had received 762,134 votes, while his primary challenger Olajide ‘Jandor’ Adediran of the PDP had received 62,449 votes, and Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the LP had received 312,329.

Following the loss, Ms Akindele, the PDP’s running partner for governor, addressed the crowd.

She started her speech by praising her initial foray into politics.

“I have to say that the road to the ballot has been an incredible educational experience for me. Many things have been mastered and then abandoned. “I do not, in any way, shape, or form, have any remorse whatsoever for having sought for office,” she wrote.

As she cast her first ballot of gratitude, she thanked her supporters and acknowledged her opponents.

She expressed her gratitude to the people of Lagos state for their support and faith in her bid for public office. I read every word of encouragement, both online and in person, and I learned about every venue where individuals defended me and confronted my detractors.

During our campaign tour, I will never forget the support and enthusiasm I received from every single one of you. While the election results may not have gone as planned, we ran a respectable campaign. Indeed, we waged a good fight,” she remarked.

A law school alumna of the University of Lagos, Ms Akindele exhorted the well-intentioned to use their rights as citizens and avoid indifference.

Not giving up is not an option, and I want to urge everyone who cares about Nigeria and Lagos to do the same. I get that some of us are getting disillusioned with the system, but if we don’t speak up now, we’ll never be heard afterwards. “I’m just thrilled we were able to make ourselves heard,” she remarked.

At the close of her speech, she thanked her audience for their support and vowed to keep fighting for the people of Lagos.

“Once again, thank you, Lagos, for being there for your daughter. I will always have the welfare of the people and the credibility of my role as an advocate for the people at the forefront of my mind when I make decisions about my future. Indeed, you’re right, oni baje! She penned, “.

All of the actress/film producer’s political Instagram posts have been removed.

The actress has also deleted her Instagram account’s followers for her ex-husband, rapper Abdul Rasheed Bello (aka JJC Skillz).

Reactions
In response to the actress’s speech, many praised her for her sportsmanlike conduct, even though she did not offer her congratulations to the victorious candidates for governor.
