  • The Edo State Government has debunked claims by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) alleging that Governor Monday Okpebholo approved N6 billion as compensation to so-called “Fulani terrorists” following the recent Uromi killings. In a strongly-worded statement on Thursday, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Fred Itua, described the accusation as a reckless falsehood designed to incite ethnic conflict and destabilise the peace of Edo State. The controversy stems from the events of 28 March, when sixteen hunters from Kano State were killed in the Udune Efandion community of Uromi. In the aftermath, Governor Okpebholo visited Kano to sympathise with the families of the victims and appeal for calm, while a delegation from Kano later travelled to Edo to engage in peace discussions. IPOB, in a statement released on 21 April, alleged that the Governor had secretly approved a N6 billion compensation package to appease the bereaved families a claim which the Edo State Government swiftly dismissed as baseless and inflammatory. “There is no truth whatsoever in the claim that Governor Monday Okpebholo approved or paid N6 billion to any group,” Itua said. “This is a fictitious and malicious lie concocted by IPOB to sow seeds of discord and destabilise the harmony we have nurtured in Edo State.” The government warned that IPOB’s repeated attempts to manipulate public sentiment and incite ethnic hostility under the cover of activism would not succeed in Edo State. “It has become a known tactic of this proscribed group to exploit tragic situations to spread hate and misinformation,” the statement added. “Their agenda of violence and ethnic disintegration has no place here.” Emphasising its commitment to unity, security and justice for all residents, the Edo State Government reaffirmed its stance against any form of ethnic or religious discrimination. The statement also urged security agencies to investigate the source of the inciting publication and prosecute those behind it, stressing that public order and peace must not be jeopardised by dangerous propaganda. “We remain resolute in our commitment to justice, peace and the protection of all Edo people, regardless of background,” the government declared. “We will continue to uphold the values of unity, tolerance and truth in the face of reckless attempts to destabilise our state.”

Up-and-coming singer Queen Lolly has sparked a wave of online debate after alleging she had a relationship with polygamist reality TV star Musa Mseleku, and playing an audio recording during a podcast interview to support her claims.
The comments were made during an episode of the _Omakwapheni Podcast_ hosted by Musa Khawula, which aired in late February 2023.  discussion quickly went viral after clips circulated on X, formerly TwitterNigeria:Queen Lolly Claims Affair With Musa Mseleku and Plays Audio During Podcast Appearance
During the interview, Lolly was questioned about her dating history. She had previously spoken publicly about past links to the late rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes, as well as to musicians Big Zulu and Master KG.
The conversation then turned to Mseleku, who is known for the reality series _Uthando Nes’thembu_ and for being married to four women.
Lolly told the hosts she and Mseleku had been involved. To support the claim, she said she had recordings and played a short audio clip on the show. She did not allow the hosts to view her phone directly.
Just for me to answer you babe, Musa is not my friend. I do not care who he is friends with currently but he is also my friend. Without wasting any time, I am okay with being a side chick, oh my God!” Lolly said on the podcast.
She went on to say she had asked Mseleku not to make their connection public, and added: “I am more than happy being a side chick for now, so stop ruining things for me.”
Lolly also suggested she had recorded multiple encounters and played a second clip which she said was from when she first met Mseleku.
The audio and Lolly’s statements spread quickly online. Many social media users questioned the authenticity of the claims.
Some commenters argued that the voice on the recording did not belong to Musa Mseleku, the polygamist, but to someone else with a similar name.
“Guys pls!! Context. This is not uMseleku the polygamist. Who you are hearing is his son. Ugirlie was caught in a lie trying to clout chase!” one user wrote on X.
Others expressed embarrassment on behalf of those involved. “At least my dad is deceased. This is so embarrassing,” wrote another user.
Mseleku himself later addressed the episode publicly. According to clips shared from the podcast, he said he believed Lolly was lying and distanced himself from the allegations.
Other viewers shifted the conversation to Lolly’s background, questioning details she had previously shared about growing up in Nkandla and later attending high school in Limpopo
Queen Lolly, whose real name is not widely publicized, rose to attention in 2022 after speaking about a brief relationship with AKA before his death in February 2023. She has since positioned herself as a singer and media personality, and has used podcast appearances to discuss her personal life.
She has not released an official statement outside of the podcast and social media clips.
Mseleku has not provided further detail beyond his on-air denial. Representatives for both parties have not issued formal statements.
The episode tapped into several topics that frequently drive discussion in South African pop culture: celebrity relationships, polygamy, and the role of social media in spreading unverified claims.
Mseleku’s public profile as a polygamist and TV personality means any allegations about his personal life draw immediate attention. At the same time, Lolly’s previous claims about AKA meant audiences were already familiar with her name.
The decision to play audio during the interview added another layer, because listeners could not independently verify who was on the recording. That ambiguity fueled both support and skepticism online.
The backlash also highlighted how women who speak publicly about relationships with high-profile men are often labeled as “clout chasers.” Lolly pushed back against that framing during the podcast, saying she was not trying to claim anyone and was speaking her truth.
The incident also renewed discussion about privacy and consent. Lolly said she recorded the encounters and chose to play them publicly. Critics argued that sharing intimate audio without the other person’s consent raises ethical questions, regardless of whether the claims are true.
As of now, there has been no legal action or formal response from Mseleku’s family or production team. The podcast episode remains online, and clips continue to circulate.
Lolly has continued to post music-related content and has not expanded on the allegations since the episode aired.
For Mseleku, the moment was another instance of his personal life becoming public debate — something he has navigated throughout the run of _Uthando Nes’thembu_.
For now, the story remains a claim made on a podcast, denied by the person at the center of it, and debated widely online.
