The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has urged the Federal Government to issue a 90-day ultimatum to Nigeria’s security chiefs to eliminate terrorists or resign from office.

Adeboye made the call on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, in a video shared on his official X account, where he expressed concern over the country’s worsening security situation and called for decisive action against those behind the violence.

Addressing the government, the cleric said security chiefs must be held to measurable results in the fight against terrorism and banditry.

ā€œIf I were asked to make suggestions, I would say quietly to our government, ā€˜Move fast and tell our security chiefs, get rid of these terrorists within 90 days or resign,ā€ Adeboye stated.

He added that the directive should not be limited to combating terrorists on the ground, but should also target those funding and enabling their operations.

ā€œWhen giving orders to the service chiefs this time around, we should make it clear to them that they are not only to eliminate the terrorists; they should eliminate their sponsors, no matter how influential they may be,ā€ he said.

Adeboye recalled that he had previously advised a former Nigerian president to issue a similar ultimatum to security chiefs. While the directive was given, he noted, it was not fully enforced when the deadline passed.

According to him, that experience highlights the need for stronger political will and strict enforcement of orders aimed at ending insecurity.

The cleric’s remarks come amid renewed concerns over terrorist attacks, banditry, and kidnappings in several parts of the country. Calls for more decisive measures have grown louder from civil society groups, political leaders, and citizens frustrated by the persistence of violent crimesAdeboye to FG: Give Security Chiefs 90 Days to End Terrorism or Sack Them

Adeboye’s intervention adds to mounting pressure on the government to overhaul its security strategy and deliver tangible results within a defined timeframe.
