Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) in Zaria has appointed Professor Adamu Ahmed as its new Vice-Chancellor. The announcement was made during the 209th (Special) Council meeting, presided over by Chairman Mahmud Yayale Ahmed 
Professor Ahmed, a lecturer in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, brings a wealth of experience to the role. He previously served as the Director of the Directorate of University Advancement and is currently the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Education, Kano.
Stakeholders have welcomed the appointment, describing Professor Ahmed as an experienced academic and administrator. “Professor Ahmed is a round peg in a round hole,” a source close to the university said. “He has the experience, expertise, and passion to lead ABU to greatness”
Professor Ahmed replaces Prof. Kabir Bala as the Vice-Chancellor of ABU. His appointment is expected to bring new leadership and vision to the university.
