Gabriel Okon Ekpiri, a resident of the Ekit Itam Akpan Obong community in the Itu Local Government Area of the state, was detained by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command for selling his nine-year-old son for N400,000.N400,000.
Odiko Macdon, the command’s Public Relations Officer, made the announcement in a statement on Tuesday in Uyo, the state capital, that the suspect was taken into custody by the Command’s Quick Intervention Squad.

In the meantime, the Commissioner of Police has given awards to two Deputy Commissioners of Police: DCP Lawal Isa Mani, Department of Operations, and DCP Baba Lawan Audu, Area Commander of the Eket Area Command.
While the Acting Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, extended his sincere congratulations to the officers, the CP urged them to double their productivity in their deputizing duties.
In a separate interview with journalists, the ecstatic senior officers expressed gratitude to the Police Service Commission and the Inspector General of Police for recognizing their merit and praised their dedication to the Command.
