Anambra Security Forces don Kill Six Suspected Gunmen for Ogbaru during Gun Battle, and One Security Man kpai.

Security forces for Anambra State don kill six suspected members of one armed group during joint operation for Amiyi area, Ogbaru Local Government Area. One security operative die for the operation, while another one sustain injury.

The operation, wey reportedly happen on Saturday, August 22, 2026, take place around River Niger creek after security forces don spend several days dey gather intelligence about suspected armed criminals wey dey operate for the area.

The joint security team reportedly include officers from Nigeria Police Force Rapid Response Squad for Awkuzu, Department of State Services (DSS), 302 Artillery Regiment for Onitsha, Nigerian Navy and community based Agunechemba operatives.

Security authorities say the suspects open fire after dem see the security operatives, and this one lead to serious gun battle wey last for some time.

Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, praise the security personnel and community based operatives wey take part for the operation.

The commissioner say the operation show why intelligence sharing, cooperation between different security agencies and support from local communities important for fighting violent criminal groups.

He also send condolence to the family and colleagues of the security operative wey die, while he wish the injured officer quick recovery.

This latest operation happen as security forces continue to carry out operations across Anambra, especially for areas where armed groups don establish camps and attack security personnel and civilians.

Earlier this month, troops from Nigerian Army 15 Brigade, together with DSS and Agunechemba operatives, reportedly destroy three camps for Osuakwa area close to Ihiala Ogbaru boundary. Security forces also recover guns and explosives during the operation, while three suspected IPOB/ESN members reportedly die.
