Kwara Sports Festival Open With Call for Unity as 16 LGAs Dey Battle for Grassroots and Sporting Honours.
ILORIN, Kwara State Sports Festival don officially open for Ilorin, as athletes from all 16 Local Government Areas (LGAs) for di state gather to compete for different sporting honours.
De festival, wey aim na to promote unity, good sportsmanship and discover young talents from grassroots, officially open on Saturday, August 22, for George Agbazika Innih Stadium Complex, Ilorin.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, through di Executive Chairman of Kwara State Sports Commission, Bola Mogaji, call on all di athletes to compete with discipline, fairness and respect for one another.
Mogaji praise di 16 local government councils for mobilising their athletes and supporting di state government effort to develop sports and give young people better opportunities.
He say di festival no be only about who go win medals.
According to am, di competition na also opportunity for young people from different parts of Kwara to come together, know one another, make new friends and show wetin dem fit do for sports.
Di competition go run from August 22 reach August 29, 2026, with about 700 male and female athletes expected to take part.
