Residents of Ukehe and Agu-Ekwegbe communities in Enugu State’s Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area are reeling in shock and grief after two brutal murder incidents involving family members. In the first incident, 40-year-old Onyebuchi Anikwe allegedly beheaded his 60-year-old mother, Felicia Anikwe, at Nkporogwu Ukehe Community. The suspect reportedly used a cutlass to kill his mother, sparking outrage among villagers who attacked him before police intervention
In a separate incident, Joshua Eze allegedly killed his sister, Nwabuche Eze, and her daughter, Favour Eze, at Agu-Ekwegbe Community. The victims’ remains were found buried in a shallow grave alongside a dead white cock, suggesting possible ritual motives 
The Enugu State Police Command has confirmed both incidents and launched investigations. The Commissioner of Police, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has condemned the killings, urging residents to refrain from taking the law into their own hand
The incidents have sparked concerns about violence, emotional instability, and public safety within communities. Authorities are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the attacks and ensure justice for the victims
