Dangote Petroleum Refinery has again reduced the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), lowering it from ₦840 to ₦820 per litre.
The latest adjustment, confirmed in a statement by the company’s spokesperson, Anthony Chiejina, takes effect immediately and is expected to ease pump prices nationwide.
As part of the new supply framework, the refinery will begin direct distribution of petrol to 11 states from September 15, 2025. Under the arrangement, filling stations in Lagos and the South-West are expected to sell at ₦841 per litre, while pump prices in Abuja, Rivers, Delta, Edo, and Kwara are projected to hover around ₦851 per litre.
The company explained that the price cut was made possible by a drop in crude oil prices, reduced distribution costs, and ongoing efforts to stabilise supply. It also disclosed plans to deploy CNG-powered trucks and provide free delivery for accredited retailers in the initial rollout states.
Industry watchers say the move reflects Dangote’s broader strategy to restructure the country’s downstream sector and provide relief to consumers still grappling with high fuel costs.
