Dancing With the Stars judge Derek Hough may have accidentally revealed the sex of his first baby with wife Hayley Erbert during the October 14 episode of the show. While judging a father-daughter dance performance, Derek expressed his excitement to have a similar experience with his own child, seemingly letting slip the word “daughter” before correcting himself to say “child.
During the judging portion of the show, Derek told the contestants, “Watching you two dance really made me excited to have my own moment with my—” before pausing and saying “with my own child.” He continued, “It’s so beautiful… There was a tenderness. It was simple. There was a care to it, and I hope you both cherish that moment.”
Derek and Hayley have been keeping their baby’s sex private, with Derek previously joking that they would “keep that one to ourselves.” However, he has shared glimpses into their pregnancy journey, including a sweet video of Hayley’s growing baby bump.
Derek and Hayley announced their pregnancy in July, sharing a sonogram video on Instagram. The couple tied the knot in August 2023 and has been documenting their journey to parenthood.
