Captain of Edo Queens Football Club of Benin-City Osahenoma Igbinovia has reiterated the club’s commitment to winning laurels at the forthcoming Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) for the 2020/21 season.
Addressing her teammates during a training session in Abuja, Captain Osahenoma, task her colleagues to up their game, adding that the only way to get State government attention is by winning matches.
“We must know that is no longer business as usual, if we must enjoy the full support of the State government, it is mandatory for us to win matches, because the only way to draw government’s attention to meet our demand is for us to show total commitment to our jobs and doing very well.”
“We should remember that Edo Queens FC is highly rated among Female clubs in the country, and a lot of female league players want to come to Edo Queens because of the commitment of the State government towards the club and rebranding that has taken place. So it is our collective responsibility to ensure that Edo Queens do what is expected of them as professional league players.”
“So on behalf of my teammates, I want to assure our amiable Deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Philip Shaibu, that Edo Queens will not disappoint him. We are totally committed and determined to win laurels for the State as we get ready to battle for glory in the new NWFL football Season.”
“I also want to use this opportunity to appeal to our numerous fans across the State not to judge us with the just- concluded Flying Officers pre-Season tournament held in Abuja.
The purpose of that tournament is for our coaches to access the team, make necessary corrections that would help know the teams’ readiness for the league. We promised not to let our State down. Our target is taking Edo Queens to an enviable height in NWFL.” she averred.
