Guardians tackle government school, charge attack on 14-year-old girl

Bishop Abiodun Ositelu and his wife Rosaline have filed a complaint against the management of the Federal Government Girls College in Sagamu, Ogun State, alleging that their 14-year-old daughter Juliana was assaulted by six of her coworkers on the school’s premises. The date is June 14, 2023.

While lamenting the development, the victim’s parents accused the school administration of treating the assault that resulted in their daughter’s face injury with levity.

Ositelu told our correspondent in an interview that he discovered that his daughter had been harmed when he paid her a visit at school and noticed a scar on her face.

The clergyman’s daughter, a JSS 3 student, told him that six of her coworkers assaulted her because she didn’t follow their orders, which led to the scar on her face.

Ositelu claimed that when he reported the incident to the management of the school, nothing was done, and he also was denied the opportunity to transport his daughter to the hospital for treatment.

He stated, “On their visiting day in May 2023, I went to my daughter’s school to visit her, and I was surprised to see that her face had been seriously bruised.” When I inquired about what had transpired, she informed me that six of her housemates at school had beaten her for refusing to do what they wanted.

“I educated the chief regarding the school, Adenike Olodo, and was informed that they would send off an examination concerning what is going on has continued as before. The school the executives is taking this matter with levity and on the off chance that anything ought to happen to my girl, I won’t mess with it.

Rosaline also told our correspondent that she visited the school the following day to discuss the case, but she was unable to see her daughter because it was not a visiting day.

She went on to say, “They told my husband that they would investigate what was going on, but nothing was done since then.” My girl’s face is scarred following the steady beatings.”

When Juliana told our correspondent about her ordeal, she said, “They always beat me; When I asked them what they wanted me to do, they said they would tell me later and told me that they would not stop if I didn’t do what they wanted.

Reached for a response with regards to this issue, the Second in command of the school, whose name could be distinguished essentially as Mrs Olayinka, demonstrated unsuccessful as calls made to her telephone number were unanswered.

At the time this report was filed, she had not responded to a text message about the case sent to her phone number.
