The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed the release of Olori Iyabo Aremu, wife of the late Olukoro of Koro-Ekiti, Oba Olusegun Aremu-Cole, and her maid.
They were abducted after the murder of the monarch by some gunmen. The release of the kidnapped victims was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer in the command. The statement also mentioned that 13 suspects were arrested in the course of the rescue operation. The police, military, DSS, and vigilante/hunters were involved in the joint operation that led to the successful rescue.
The rescued victims have been reunited with their families, and the suspects are currently undergoing interrogation to aid the arrest of other members of the gang. The Commissioner of Police has assured the public that the perpetrators of this act will face the full wrath of the law and urges everyone to remain calm and security conscious.
